Tax Distribution Data
The tax distribution data in the tables shows how the 2023 tax dollars were distributed in each of the 56 counties. The taxing jurisdiction categories include the statewide school equalization levy and Montana university system levy (collectively referred to as the 101 mills), county governments, city governments, local school districts, county-wide schools’ levies, and other miscellaneous taxing jurisdictions. The tax distribution pie charts illustrate the distribution of where property tax dollars went for tax year 2023.
Note: The total tax amounts in both tables are equal in each county as all of the property tax money paid is distributed to the taxing jurisdictions.
