The Montana Department of Revenue closed the public comment period for the 2024 Form 2 on April 30 and appreciates the public’s interest and comments on the form. Based on feedback from tax preparers and the public, the department added the Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit back to the form.
Previously, beginning with tax year 2024, the form was to be filed separately from the Form 2. With the update to the 2024 Form 2, taxpayers will file for the Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit by completing Schedule 2EC and including it with a copy of their Form 2. The department will continue to provide an option to file for the Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit on our TransAction Portal.
